Environmental, Social and Governance Policy
Responsible growth should benefit more than the balance sheet.
The Growth Company is a small, founder-led business working with founders, teams and organisations across Ireland and the UK. Our work includes coaching, training, strategic partnerships and the operation of The Growth Network.
Our environmental footprint is relatively small, but our decisions still matter. This policy sets out how we approach our environmental responsibilities, our impact on people and communities, and the way we govern the business.
It is a practical commitment, not a claim of perfection or an independently audited ESG certification.
Environmental responsibility
We aim to reduce unnecessary environmental impact through the way we deliver our work, travel and purchase services.
Our commitments are to:
- Deliver coaching, meetings and programmes online where this supports the client and the intended outcome.
- Avoid unnecessary travel and combine journeys where practical.
- Consider public transport, shared travel and lower-impact options when organising meetings and events.
- Use digital documents and resources as standard, reducing unnecessary printing and promotional materials.
- Use local and independent venues and suppliers where they are suitable for the work.
- Maintain equipment for as long as it remains effective and dispose of electronic equipment through appropriate recycling channels.
- Consider environmental practices when selecting significant suppliers, venues and partners.
- Avoid making environmental claims that we cannot support with evidence.
We will review business travel, purchasing and material use annually to identify realistic improvements.
Social responsibility
Our work is built around people, relationships and access to opportunity.
Our commitments are to:
- Treat clients, participants, suppliers and community members with dignity and respect.
- Provide an environment free from discrimination, harassment, bullying and intimidation.
- Make reasonable adjustments and provide accessible formats where needs are shared with us.
- Consider different communication, learning and participation needs when designing training, coaching, events and digital services.
- Communicate prices, expectations and the scope of our work clearly.
- Protect confidential information and handle personal data responsibly.
- Never sell personal information.
- Pay suppliers according to the terms agreed with them.
- Support local businesses, independent venues and community organisations where practical.
- Use The Growth Network to create thoughtful introductions, strengthen relationships and help opportunities move between people and places.
- Contribute time, connections, visibility or practical support to selected community initiatives where we can make a useful difference.
Governance
Good governance means being honest about what we do, how decisions are made and where commercial interests exist.
Our commitments are to:
- Operate in accordance with applicable legal, financial, employment and data-protection responsibilities.
- Describe our services, experience and results honestly.
- Avoid guaranteeing commercial outcomes that cannot be guaranteed.
- Keep appropriate financial, contractual and data records.
- Protect client and participant confidentiality.
- Disclose material referral fees, commissions or commercial relationships where they could influence a recommendation.
- Identify and manage conflicts of interest.
- Reject bribery, corruption, fraud and improper influence.
- Choose clients, suppliers and partners whose conduct is reasonably consistent with our values.
- Respond seriously and fairly when a concern or complaint is raised.
The Growth Network
The Growth Network trades as part of The Growth Company (N.I.) Ltd and is included within the scope of this policy.
Because the Network has its own members, events, partnerships and community activity, it also maintains a separate ESG policy focused on how those activities are managed.
Accountability and review
Responsibility for this policy sits with the Founder and Director of The Growth Company.
The policy will be reviewed at least once each year and updated when the business, its activities or relevant responsibilities change.
Questions or concerns about this policy can be raised through our contact page.
